This turtle sculpture was on the beach at Mae Hat. Ko Tao means "Turtle Island." Once there were many Green and Hawksbill Turtles here but their nesting was seriously disturbed by resort developments along all the beaches. Real turtles were rarely seen in the area when we visited.
